When staying at Woodlawn you may choose one of two spacious suites in the Historic House or a cottage suite with deck and expansive water views. All of our guest lodging come with a private bath, high-speed Internet, private phone service and entertainment center. All are on the water with spectacular views and acres of lawns and gardens to explore. A full Woodlawn breakfast is served at the time of your choosing in the Historic House.
You may choose from one of our five cottage suites or two luxurious and spacious suites in the Historic House. Our accommodations reflect a blend of understated elegance, modern amenities and the charm of a historic estate surrounded by the fascinating culture of the Chesapeake.
The Poppy Cottage Suite
The Poppy Cottage includes a full kitchen, large common room and a spacious deck with an expansive water view. Tucked in behind the cottage is a private garden area looking out over the farm fields. Cool green tones and poppy arrangements complement the open space of the kitchen and living room.
The Sunflower Cottage Suite
Well suited for the corporate traveler, this suite includes a common room, perfect for stretching out while basking in the views of Calvert Bay. Our guests tell us that the Sunflower Cottage has the nicest water view on the property. The view from the deck captures magnificent sunsets and moonlight nights over Calvert Creek and Calvert Bay.
Dividing doors separating Poppy and Sunflower may be opened when reserving both suites.
The River Cottage Suite
The River Cottage features a kitchenette, large common room, and a secluded waterfront patio. Calming blues, hydrangeas, and iris accentuate the serenity of the river, which beckons you from the patio vista. If you stay with us in June, the 30 year old rose arbor is in full bloom.
The Pineapple Cottage Suite
Similar to Sunflower, this suite also includes a separate sitting room and deck. A seashore décor surrounds you in blues, greens, and yellows. Pineapple is the most private cottage suite and just outside its deck is a large fig bush that leads to a walking trail along Calvert Creek.
Dividing doors separate River and Pineapple and may be opened cottage suites and may be opened when reserving both suites.
The Magnolia Cottage
Magnolia is our romantic get away cottage. Set off by itself, it has a vaulted cathedral ceiling and an old pine pegged floor. The architecture of the cottage reflects the 17th Century structures of Historic St. Mary’s City. The Jacuzzi tub is perfect for relaxation and renewal. Magnolia shares a cottage garden with the Historic House and is a stone’s throw from our dock.
Reach back to 1798 and stay in meticulously preserved suites – each with two working fireplaces. Placed on the National Register in 1990, each room has museum features that capture the life of Mathias Clark and his family circa early 1800’s.
The Calvert Suite
The master suite of Woodlawn, Calvert’s bedroom has a king bed and a spectacular view of Calvert Bay reaching out to the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. Just beneath your window is a stunning old crape myrtle tree – in bloom from July through late September. Your bedroom has a fireplace and a spacious reading area looking out over the water. The private bath has a large Jacuzzi/with water view, separate glassed in shower, two vanities and a walk-in closet.
Adjoining the Calvert bedroom is your sitting room; also with a working fireplace and water view, entertainment and refreshment center. The sofa by the fireplace folds out to a double bed. Dividing the bedroom and sitting room is an anteroom with a large doorway to a small balcony overlooking the creek and bay – delightful spot on moonlit nights.
The Boxwood Suite
Boxwood does not boast a water view, but beneath its windows are Woodlawn’s ancient boxwood gardens (over 200 years old) and a long view across the farm. Like its companion suite, Boxwood has two fireplaces – one next to the queen bed and the other in your sitting room (also with a double fold out sofa). The spacious private bath is connected by a hallway through the pent which separates two chimneys.

Deposits
A deposit of one-night's stay, or 50% of the reservation, whichever is greater, is due at the time the reservation is made. Full payment is due for single-night stays and reservations made within 14 days of arrival date. Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Personal and Travelers Checks accepted.
Accommodations and Rates
Included in your rate is a full breakfast for two. Additional guests staying with you are charged $35.00 per person, per night. Our weekend rate applies for holidays. A two night stay is required for St. Mary’s College graduation in May and Parent’s Weekend in October.
Cancellations
Because of our size, cancellations affect us significantly; therefore we adhere to a strict cancellation policy. You may cancel your confirmed reservation with no penalty up to two weeks prior to your arrival date. With 7-14 days notice of your cancellation, we will bill for your stay, but issue a certificate for a future visit. With less than 7 days notice, you are responsible for the full commitment. With a booking more than 2 rooms, 30-days notice is required for cancellation.
Check-in & Check-out
You may check into your cottage or suite after 3:00 PM. Please let us know if you plan to arrive after 7pm. Check-out time is 11am. Please note, we try to be as liberal as possible at both ends of your stay. If we can extend your time at Woodlawn, we will do all we can to meet your schedule.
