Tomato Processing at Woodlawn

Yesterday we restored the splendor to the vegetable patch at Woodlawn. We harvested heaps of tomatoes and got the tomato plants back in shape. In order not to waste any of the valuable vegetables, we decided to pre-cook tomato sauce. (You can find the recipe below 😉) Tobias, Matthias and Eva K demonstrated their gardening skills in the tomato area. Meanwhile, the harvested tomatoes were being cooked into an italian speciality in the kitchen by Anja, Felina, Sophia and Klara.

Tomatoes and one cute pepper being cleaned and readied for….

Tomatosauce recipe:

Clean, blanch and peel the harvested tomatoes. Then puree and refine with garlic, basil and salt. Finally, simmer the almost finished tomato sauce until the desired consistency has been reached. Now fill the sauce only in glass bottles or mason jars.

The tomato sauce can simply be enjoyed together with pasta or processed into lasagne or other Italian specialties.

Austrians don't love Italian cuisine for nothing - try it yourself ;)
