Going Out to See The Moon Rise

On Tuesday, the first of August, we watched the super-blue moon rise over Calver Creek. It is a unique celestial event when two full moons occur in a month. On Tuesday, August 1, the first of the two full August moons came up, 16% brighter than a regular moon. We took photos of the moon, and we wondered about the expression of a blue moon month, because the moon isn’t blue.

The next real blue moons will be expected in the year 2026.

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me
